If we take a cold hard look at the situation Christians are facing in the 21st Century, not only is the kingdom of God hidden from view, but churches are also proving to have no political clout and seem irrelevant for the progress of human flourishing.
We live in an age in which a trendy technological device that you bought today could be on its way out tomorrow. In other words, nothing is guaranteed, but we sometimes conduct ourselves as if it is.
If we don’t look at what is trendy and not working, how will we implement a strategy that hopefully will be effective?
Unfortunately, the western orphanage culture created “a glut” for orphanages. Opportunists discovered that visitors’ empathy and miserable looking children were a lucrative business, hence the increase in orphanages and opportunities for tourists to add orphanages to their list of attractions to visit.
